please don't tell me what anarchy is, i find governmental studies very interesting. like i said earlier people who hold the idea that anarchy would lead to chaos is a misguided and uneducated view of the subject. if the world was at this moment thrown into anarchy, then yes, there would be violence followed shortly be the remergence of governmental powers (dictatorship's and monarchy's). However, this is only because we, as humans, are too stupid to use an anarchy system.

I do believe we will eventually live in anarchy, i believe it is the natural progression...evolution. from monarchies, to dictatorships, on to democracy, and then communism, and finally anarchy. by that time we will be so evolved mentally that we won't need a government body to tell us what is right and wrong, or when to help a neighbor.

adam..i hope to no end that you're right. but it seems to me, looking at general society, that anarchy would have worked better earlier in the 20th century.

Anarchy
1. Absence of any form of political authority.
2. Political disorder and confusion.
3. Absence of any cohesive principle, such as a common standard or purpose.

Anarchy was most likely the first form of anything, nothing. There was no government. We have progressed from that and formed governments to set laws so that other's interests are voiced and heard, not just your own.

Nothing pisses me off more then when someones response is a quote from the dictionary.

i assume you are reffering to a time when we were unable to establish thriving communities, as in cavemen. take a look at nature. find a wolf pack that doesn't have an alpha male, find a flock of birds that doesn't have a leader, find any group of animals anywhere that doesn't follow some system of government, regardless of how primitive it is. any animal that forms a community, has a form of government. even animals that are totally solitary have an absolute dictatorship with themselves.

a state of anarchy would eliminate those "alpha" male governments. that's what people don't understand. with true anarchy there is no ruling over another. we are all equal and largely self dependent, any assistance to another comes by free will. a government isn't needed to tell you how much to give, to whom, and how often. we would know ourselves. it would be a completely peaceful world. but we are no where near it.

Invisible~caper;
the grass is always greener... i think you are forgetting about world war's 1 and 2, as well as korea, and vietnam. and those are just wars that america was involved with. no...i think our best chance for a utopian, anarchist, society lies somewhere down the road...far down the road.

But living in an anarchial society means that everyone has the free will to do whatever they wanted.

If you had a really nice house and I wanted your house. I could walk over with a gun, open the door shoot you about 5 or 6 times, reload (because I shot a few other people earlier) then shoot you some more while you're on the ground to make sure you're dead. I could then take your house and live in it. No consequences at all.

That is why anarchy doesn't work. Any living species needs a dominant body to govern it. That's why there are alpha males in wolf packs and gees flying in V's and queen bees. No living species could survive without a governing body. Any form of working government (as much as some people will disagree) is some form of hierarchy.

yet again (!) people aren't ready for anarchy right now. and again (!) i think it's an evolutionary stage that we will one day reach. a day far from now.

you are obviously not getting my point that anarchy wouldn't work now, hell communism wouldn't work now. but i think it will in the future. when we have evolved enough.

I would think we have evolved from anarchy.

what makes you say that? like we both said before, all animals have a form of governing body.

I say that becaus at one point in the existence of all living things, there was an absense of a governing body and each species has formed it's own, meaning that it's progressed from anarchy (absense of government).

i'm sure you'd find it difficult to find a group of living beings that don't have a way of governing. so what would make you think we were at that point once. and even if we had, i'm sure we weren't killing eachother while we were some glowing green sludge.
