You must understand that Stalin did not think up communism, he twisted Marx's ideals into what we know today as communism.
According to the IEEE unemployment in 2002 was at 36%. What would you rather have? A TRUE communistic society where everyone works and is payed based on performance, importance and experience; or a capitalistic society where 36% of able bodied people are unemployed and probably (don't know the numbers for sure) about 30%-40% of those people collect welfare and do nothing (which is what you say communism would cause is slackers and leeches).

Personally, I think welfare should be abolished. You work, you get payed. If not, you starve. Tough luck.
There's just no way to implement a truly communistic society. Human competition just won't allow it.

you have your facts wrong. according to the same website (IEEE) they correctly place the current unemployment for engineeers at 6.7. they quote 7% as a high. employment has never gotten that bad. even during the carter administration it only got to around 10-11%.

In communism you are not payed for extra work. You, as a teacher or dentist, get the same pay as a waiter or car-washer. Atleast under Ceausescu it was like that. My parents grew up in communism, and no one liked it. Religious freedom is con, lack of praise/payment for extra work is another. If I was dictator of US, I wouldnt use communism. I'd make my own government, cuz true communism will never truly work out, no matter how hard people try.

It's a great idea and all, but what happens is that they have humans distributing the wealth. This leads to corruption, and well, who here would want to live under a corrupt ruler? The problem with communism basically boils down to human nature, if someone offers you a dollar, you'll obviously take it right? Well communism would have the entire nation giving dollars to their ruling party with no guarantee that they will get them back.
But if you asked me, the only way to make communism work would be to have a computer that is uncontrolled by humans divvy up wealth, rule etc. Of course....that seems to remind me strangely of the Matrix.....not to mention the fact that computers are non sentient, so humans will always be part of the feedback loop.

They may have lived in a communist country, but it wasn't true communism. There never has been true communism. Marx came up with the idea. Stalin then twisted his idea into what we know as communism today.
I highly suggest reading the book I posted a few posts up, very good.

an ideal utopian society would be one founded on A)communism or B)anarchy. however as someone stated earlier, people are stupid which is where people (misguided teens that don't read usually) get the idea that communism is all about spying on citizens and mass slaughters and anarchy is all about robbing people and shooting everyone. using true communism or true anarchy with an ideal group of people would result in perfect harmony. _However_ we are dealing with idiots, so no utopian society ever lasts. take a look at the utopian society created in onieda, new york. it was a perfect community based on...i believe communism although i'm not sure... anyway it lasted about 2 generations before the 3rd gen f*cked it all up as should be expected. right now disney is working on one in epcot i believe, i give that one maybe 4-5 gen's...but that's tops, and only because it's funded by one of the largest corporations in the world. the fact is people can't handle a perfect society like communism and anarchy promote, we are money grubbing, superstitious, nosey, evil beings.
so...them's the breaks.

Anarchy is the absense of government. There would be absolute chaos. People could run around doing whatever they wanted AND get away with it. Anarchy would never work.
