How do I make poster size quality prints?
How do I make poster size quality prints?
When starting a new image what should the resolution be set to? I am trying to create an image with at least 150 DPI, while 300 DPI is an excellent quality print according to www.deviantprints.com the place I?m trying to submit the art to be printed. They give examples for Photoshop @ http://services.deviantart.com/prints/faq/#faq-c02 . for some reason I am having trouble figuring it out. Any help will be appreciated!
You may want to check out www.deviantart.com & www.deviantprints.com if you have never been you can sell your art.
Thank You

You can set the dpi in PSP on the new image dialog box (the default is 72).
When you are in doubt between resolutions always choose the highest one. You can change to a lower resolution later (PSP doesn't have great tools for this so you could either ask someone who uses Photoshop to change it for you or maybe even the printer's software can easily change it) but to change to a higher is always a headache even for professionals.
You don't have a specific tool to calculate the aspect ratio in PSP, but if you resize the canvas before you start your work you can set the ratio on the bottom part of the dialog box. Use deviantprints' table to set the ratio.
Hope this helped.

Any more tips or ideas would be great because I'm still a little confused.

At www.about.com there are many tips on this (written by Jacci Howard if I'm not wrong). Just search for desktop publishing and you should find the answers - she explains this quite well.
