Fofo, I'm really not sure what we are going to do about the Nippon Contest considering it really got screwed up. We have contacted him but no reply yet. And I do agree, there isn't enough contest taking place as of now to put such restrictions on the contest that yaxay does but it would be a nice idea when we start getting more contest.

As I've said, me and Kryptonite just got here, but we will make sure there isn't anymore of this going on. This issue is something we have complete control over.

Hello there, since a few of you mentioned Yaxay and the way we handle contests I thought I'd come in and cover why we do what we do. Hope you don't mind. Its just that the reasons behind allow contests could differ and thus the same solution might not work.

First, TF should do whats best for TF. You need to decide WHY you allow contest, pick a focus of some sort, and then proceed to try and be fair to your most valuable assets (your users) while trying to keep that focus.

Yaxay decided a long time ago that the only good thing about contest is that people learn from them. The prize is usually negligible because honestly how many hours were put into their design by all the users? That's ALOT of work that went unpaid.

We also decided that we'd rather have NO contests then have our users be taken advantage of. We had too many contests that end without a winner. To me, if you HOST a contest on a forum then you need to pick a winner on that forum. So we require all contests to be hosted exclusively on yaxay. And that each contest MUST have a winner.

Basically a user submits a contest, I get some contact info from them and make them realize that they have to pick a winner. Once everything's cleared up I approve it. Then and only then can users start submitting designs.

Its not something that would work for every forum. There wasn't some major planning to get our contest system to work...we are just damn lucky and it happens to work The biggest reason is probably the acceptance of the users and all work they put in to make contests work.
