Let's end it here. Windows XP is bascilly Windows 2000 but with better interface, functions and just some more lines of codeing nothing really hat big. It's not really any fifferent but the fact that you have to downlaod over 500mb of patches every couple of months.

Well the fact that you're running it on a machine that doesn't even meet the recommended requirements might have something to do with the fact that XP sucks. You barely meet the minimum requirements, no wonder it takes 2 hours to install. I have a 750 Duron and it only took 30 minutes.

What is this about? Intel, which is part of MS

Intel is NOT part of Microsoft. Intel is a chipset manufacturer for x86 machines, Microsoft is a software manufacturer that makes their software compatible on x86 mahchines (and within the last few years on Motorolla processors, which run Macs).
You're comparing apples and oranges.

I have been into computers since the age of 13
So you've been into computers for two years? Honestly you have no real knowledge of computers then. You think you're u63r 1337 just because you can find security holes in a school's network? Most schools don't even have qualified network administrators, the computer teachers (who have degrees in programming, not networking) are more than likely the ones that run the network at school.
The only computer knowledge you have is that of the super fast computers that do everything for you. Try working with a computer that operates off a dual boot 5 1/4" floppy. Oh wait, those were outdated before you were into computers.

By the way, this isn't the debate forum, that's about 5 forums down.
Do your research first and you'll sound like you know what you're talking about.

Ya so only 2 years, I have worked wiht every Operating system avaliable. I have worked with ALOT of Computers that ony use Floppy and with 50MB hard drive. I am not that stupid. I am getting A+ certified next year (Febuary) So don't tell me this crap. And you can basiclly say Intel is with MS since Intel does aLL there chips. And No like i said earlier we have XP at my school and I use it every day, it sucks, we got new PC's last year (P4 2.5GHZ, Dell's) So odn't tell me I hav'nt used it. My parents use it since they like it and they run 1.2GHz computers, I get on one of them every day so don't talk.

and Acully sorry I don't speak l33t =/. You will have people like me who are opionated and hate winXP so umm don't this personal ok guys?

I'm ending my side here.

You are the one taking it personal. I NEVER said you haven't used XP. I'm just saying it's your fault for running XP on a 233. 2000 shouldn't even be run on a 233 IMO, that's what 95/98/NT are for.

Once again, misinformed about Intel.
Intel has ALWAYS made x86 chipsets. Linux can run on systems with them. So can Windows, Lindows, Unix, BSD. Intel doesn't make them for Microsoft, Microsoft just chooses to use processors based on x86 architecture. There are SPARC and Motorolla which can be used, but Microsoft chooses to build their OSes for x86, not the other way around.

It just so happens that computer manufacturers have contracts with both Intel and Microsoft to build machines with both of their products, that is the ONLY way Intel and Microsoft are related, through the computer manufacturer (not chipset or software).

I agree you are good at what you are doing. But that alone won't earn you any respect from me.
Why don't use use your broad knowledge and contribute to the computer help forum, I'm sure you'll be a great helper there. It's better than saying this sux and that sux ain't it?
BTW, I've never used any OS except Win98,2K,XP and MacOS 9.6 and X. I'ven't certified with alphabets yet. I'm looking forward to asking you questions on computers! Shocked

mac is for designers, and teenage girls who need a (stylish) laptop for their expensive private school.

linux is for geeks.

windows 98 is crap.

windows xp rules. it looks good, works fine, is incredibly easy to use, and generaly rules.

and dont "flame" me because "flaming" is for sad, lonely geeks with nothing better to do with their time.

I use Windows 2000 Pro, and I think it's about the best version of Windows to date. It's got a barebones interface (none of that childish GUI crap that XP users seem so proud of), it has yet to crash on me, networking is much more streamlined (but still has advanced capabilities, a la NT), and for me, it's just better for what I need to do.

I don't care much for XP. I was given a copy and decided to try it out on one of my graphics workstations. I have to say the ease of installation was good, but that's only compared to other Windows versions (where upgrading is sketchy at best).

The main thing I don't like is that you have to buy multiple licenses if you want to use it on multiple machines. This is why most of the small business owners I've talked to don't use XP, it's simply too expensive to outfit 8 computers in an office each with a $100 operating system. It's much easier to buy one copy of 2k and use it on all of them.

So if Micro$oft continues with this trend (and I'm sure they will), I'll just continue using 2000.
