**** the people that said i was an idiot i have my own opinion and you should keep yours to yourself if it isnt anything nice to say. it doesnt really matter what age you are its how resposible you are. people 50 go out and drink and drive and kill be just like 18 year olds. -Charlie- lain13egoStatus: Offline!
alcohol is a poison. It is not good for you in anyway, and I don't want to hear that bit about red wine, you get the same positive effect from grape juice. At fifteen, sixteen, MOST are not very responsible. At twenty one you know people still aren't responsible BECAUSE they DO go out and drink themselves to death, GOOD, now I don't have to deal with them. Supervised Drinking is even worse, "mom and dad say its okay to drink something that harms my body and mind" Great messege parents If people want to shorten their lives with any particular product thats fine. The thing about alcohol and drugs that bother me is innocent lives taken. So that said, if you slowly kill yourself like my uncle, do it in a heartbeat like those in the millions of car accidents cause by drunkeness go for it. What the hell do I care...any age is fine with me. If you COULD just drink to appreciate it, and some do...fine. So Charlie, you go drink at fifteen die at fifty... I could tell people millions of times over how bad it is, but it obviously doesn't make a difference. So drink, tell yourself its okay...you aren't an alcoholic, or it isn't THAT bad for you...whatever ___________________
1. This was over the drinking age, not whether its bad for you or not. ___________________ :: pop :: MajjecStatus: Offline!
I think it is very important for kids to learn about drinking early. I have known people who were never allowed to drink and then on thier 21st birthday they get wasted. People who are allowed to drink don't think its as cool and they dont usually end up getting wasted for the fun of it and doing something bad. early exposure is good. ___________________ I was drinking at 14 and partied myself out by the time I hit 18. Just started drinking again a couple months ago, but for kickbacks and whatnot. Know your rights! LadyXStatus: Offline!
I started drinking when i was 13, and started being an alcoholic when I was 15 and I stayed that way until I was 17. I did a lot of stupid things during those two years, looking back now I have accepted most of them, but drinking that young, is a waste. I believe that people that young, like myself, don't (didn't) know how to control their intake. Drinking at such an early age, I believe is pretty pointless, unless like Darthy was saying, its on an occassion out with the folks, x-mas, b-days etc. There are lots of activities you can do while sober. But if kids wanna drink they will. It's up to the parents to teach their children responisibility and like RamsayX said, some kids just aren't mature or responsible enough to drink. From being a former alcoholic, I am not a big fan of alcohol, I will drink occassionally and I still have the tendancy to turn to a vodka binge when things are really tough, but I know my boundaries now. I know what I can and can't do, and I know how much is enough. Unfortunately, I learned it the hard way. The legal age is there to protect everyone. It isn't cause the government doesn't want kids "having fun" it's so that kids having fun aren't jumping into their car and speeding off down the highway and killing themselves or others. And so that there aren't bar fights where people get stabbed, or put in the hospital with a broken nose. And all those sorts of situations. I have sooooo much to say on this topic but it all goes into the whole life thing and would get long and boring and no one would read it so I'm not gonna go into it In the end, if you are going to drink, drink responsibly. If you are going to get drunk, don't drive. If you are underaged, know what you are consuming and don't take for granted that it is "just one night" cause that one night of booze can lead to a LOT of BS that can be avoided. ___________________ Dont Be Surprised If This Thread lain13egoStatus: Offline!
Title of thread: opinions on alcohol and underaged drinking. so i said "If people want to shorten their lives with any particular product thats fine. The thing about alcohol and drugs that bother me is innocent lives taken. So that said, if you slowly kill yourself like my uncle, do it in a heartbeat like those in the millions of car accidents cause by drunkeness go for it. What the hell do I care...any age is fine with me." and "I could tell people millions of times over how bad it is, but it obviously doesn't make a difference. So drink, tell yourself its okay...you aren't an alcoholic, or it isn't THAT bad for you...whatever" and a tattoo is a mark on your body, drinking is digesting a poisonous substance that makes you stupid. It IS bad for you and if you'd like to debate that go talk to your doctor, but at whatever legal age you are allowed to drink at you can, and I don't care. As long as you aren't somebody close to me, or that I care about deeply what do I care what you do? Nothing, I care nothing about what you do at all. I am also aware that some people do live long lives doing everything wrong for their bodies, but why take that chance when you aren't guaranteed another life ...and i swear I didn't say that I don't think people should be allowed to drink, just that its increadibly stupid... and maybe I value my life more than others...I can't say for sure, but I would not risk leaving those that I love for a stupid drink...and it IS a risk ___________________
