I had to learn the hard way unfortunatley, but rest assure I did learn. When I was 16, I already had 2 dui's ....one of them I got while not even driving and the legal age in the US is 21 and there is a zero tolerance policy, so naturally if you had been drinking the least bit and under 21 you were going to be facing a dui if caught. Both times i was under the legal limit for an adult, but unfortunatley I wasn't an adult at the time. So I've done my time, still haven't gotten my license back and its 2003 :
:
Needless to say though, I did eventuall learn not to be behind the wheel and drink....but I still drink in the comfort of my own home and when I have a designated driver.. And I feel the same way about underage drinking...but its hard to be responsiable when your underage, because you "think" you know but in all reallity, you won't until you get older.

im 19 now, but i've drank socially since i was 17. the drinking age here is 21. lately i havent drank at all, its just not my thing. i dont get hangovers, but, i also just don't have as much fun as i used to. it pretty much depends who you're with. drinking just to get drunk is totally pointless. drinking when your out to loosen up a little and have the guts to go out to the dancefloor and dance, thats what makes it fun.
but who has time for that anymore
EDIT: And since when is sex a bad thing?

As far as Im concerned the legal age should 21 ... anywhere. Most kids are too irresponsible to handle alcohol. Enough said.

and actually if you look at the adult non-drunk accident to drunk accident ratio, neither are adults

Well, I'm 26. But I drink since I was 15. I never done something stupid or get drunk. Just a little bit:D .
But I think it changes depending of the person. Some people are irresponsable with any age. You can be 40, get drunk, drive, spank your wife etc.
I think 18 is a good age. People have to learn to be responsable.
Some is more adult at 16 than much at 40. It's dificult to say.
In my coutry, the age to drink is 18.

I think drinking younger is fine. I do however, think drinking to get drunk is dumb, as is drinking to be cool. And drinking and driving is REALLY bad.

no, some religions say your not supposed to have sex until your married.
that doesnt make it wrong.
majjec i agree with you. i think the drinking age should be 18, because thats when your a legal adult. if your going to declare someone an adult, do it the whole way, dont 1/2 give them responsibilty and 1/2 still treat them as a kid

Wait up there moral patriots...
You are straight away associating drinking with being drunk. You can drink without spewing or feeling bad the next day you know. Plus a bit here and there in moderation, has actually been proven to be good for your health (1 glass of red wine each night with dinner for example)
Anyway, its actually legal for anyone above the age of 16 to drink here - the catch is, it must be in a social situation with the supervision of your parents, on private premises. Which is good - it slowly intorduces the body to different types of alcohol which means the kid is less likely to go out one night and binge, ending up in hospital getting his (I say his because males are more likely to get to that point) stomach pumped.
It depends on the kids drinking obviously, but I think 21 for a legal drinking age is a bit harsh. Especially since if there is a rule against it, more people are going to want to break that rule.
It's funny, even though I had access to the piss when I was underage, I find I get tipsy/drunk more often now that I am of legal age. My group of friends was pretty responsible for a group of teenagers. Now I go out and people are buying me drinks, friends shout rounds and I tend to drink more potent stuff in comparison to the wonderful vodka and orange juice or those bottled ready mix drinks with only 5% alcohol.
But its all good fun, and I still won't drink anything I don't like.
