Actually, most of my problems weren't layout-related... for example, there was the JS clock problem, and the JS display problem (which i still haven't been able to fix btw even though it displays no errors), then there was the padding problem on the news thingies (mozilla merges the margins), etc, etc.

Mozilla is a good idea for a browser, but it's far from perfect - there needs to be a boundary between good standards and ridiculous standards, and W3 doesn't seem to see it - and Mozilla is 100% W3-compliant.

Hmm, throughout the progress of making my site i've understood that the only thing that really makes a difference in the Google ranking is how many/how higly ranked sites link to you. I optimized my page quite a bit since the start (still not ultimately, but enough imho) and it almost didn't do anything - but when i got a few ppl to link to my site, it went up 2 or 3 pages... can't remember exacty. Directories like DMOZ especially help... so, just telling from my experience, optimization is nearly pointless :P
