How can I get the grunge look?

One of the LJ I browsed through had this awesome effect and I was wondering if you guys knew how do make it. Here's the url:

it looks like she just used a paint effect on it

looks like she used brushes which you can find at veredgf.fredfarm.com/vbrush just look for grunge brushes.

quick brush use explination

Choose your Paint Brush tool. In your Tool Options menu click on the icon of a paint brush on the upper right side of the menu. Choose Custom. If you have no brushes available, click on the Edit Paths tab. Add your Brushes directory, then hit okay. You should now have brushes available. Click on the brush of your choosing.
