Problem with a target path.

If I create a Movie Clip and named it "mov1" his target path will be "_root.mov1".

But if I first create a Graphic and inside it I'll put the Movie Clip named "mov1" what target path will it have ?

"mov1" is inside "abc",
"abc" is inside "123",
"123" is inside "somemovieclipinstance",
"somemovieclipinstance" is on the root timeline.

therefore the path to mov1 is:
_root.somemovieclipinstance.123.abc.mov1

If you are using a diffrent version of flash it might be diffrent. Check this site here: http://www.actionscript.org/tutorials/beginner/paths/index.shtml

abc must be a movieclip, graphic symbols cannot have instance names.

Yemy, I am not positive about Flash 5, but in MX you should just change the graphic to a movieclip if you want to target a movieclip inside it.

--edit---
Sorry Exidge, I didn't see that you posted already.

Yemy, we are just trying to help. It is hard to help sometimes when we can't see the animation and the fla is not posted.

So without seeing the animation, if you have a graphic named "abc" and a movie inside with an instance name of "mov1", if you change "abc" to a movie clip and give an instance name of "abc" you should be able to target "mov1" like this:

_root.abc.mov1

if that doesn't work post the fla to get better help.

Yeah sorry about that but I was really angry =mad because I didn?t know what to do. Sow I took a break play a little Counter-Strike, shoot some heads off, stab some enemies from the back ::rambo:: ? and then I realized that if I can?t assign a property to the movie because I don?t know his target path, then I?ll make the movie to get the property and it work, sow all my troubles are solved and I finally can go to sleep. =sleepy =sleepy =sleepy

P.S. if i change "abc" to a movie clip the efect wont work, don't ask me why i have no ideea.
