Lost Admin Password

I recently changed my Win 2000 Pro workstation from being part of a domain to being part of a workgroup. This worked fine however when the computer rebooted the Administrative password had changed. I've tried all sorts of manuallly guessed passwords but to no avail. I can log into windows using another account however this is a restrcited user account with no ability to change or install anything. I don't really want to reformat so is there anyway I can log back into the admin account?

there is a bootable linux password recovery program, however .... it doesnt work 100% of the time ... I'll try to find the link for you.

Sorry! My fault. I'd previously edited the Local Security Policy to rename the admin account. As it was part of a domain, all remote domain security policies had overwritten this. When I disconnected from the domain, this policy came into effect and now Im back on. =blush Thanks for all your help anyway!
