Flash Animation. probably basic question....

Well here's the problem.. I have something pivoting back and forth. its kind of like an upside down pendulum. so its going back and forth right... and i then want it to move down, while its still pivoting back and forth. is there some way to make the pivoting thing an object in itself, that'll keep going back and forth, and then move that downward?... or something?... if there are any tutorials i can be directed to that'd be a help... or maybe just a name for what i want to do, then i can search for it, but i have come up with zilch so far.. i'm sure it can be done, it seems simple enough. ok thanks, bye.

try convetring the pendulm thingy intro a movie clip and then in the main timeline movie it down with a motion tween. does that help?
