That plan seems to hurt the hosts that put those ads on their sites. Instead of people buying hosting from them, you get the sale and then give a very small portion to the hosts. Think about it, if Host A has a plan that is $50/year. Instead of buying from host a, customer sees the banner and goes and buys a similar plan from you. Host A just lost $48.

Many hosts offer around the $50 mark, should the person sign up.

Unless I'm mistaken, not too many hosting companies put up affiliate programs for other.. hosting companies.
