New Rules for Hosting Companies
Hello Ladies & Gentlemen, over the past few months, we've watched this area become a frenzy of 'ads' for your companies. It's fine to promote your company, but we're putting new rules in place that will restrict this area back to 'discussion', with new advertisng rules, as well as commentary.

Where do we promote?

Well, welcome to Briony & Shawn's throne, and we have a new charter out for you hosts. We have stickied a thread at the top, for Paid Hosting Companies, what do you do there? Each company, is allowed 1 post, which can be editted at ANY time, that's per company, not per representative for that company. As stated by Briony, it states you may promote your company at anytime with specials and so forth, however, you may not make more than that one post. Violaters will recieve a warning and that post deleted, next time will be a warning point for negligence to rules. Also, those of you who'aren't' hosts, don't post comments or recommendations about the companies in there, or you'll just have it deleted, along with a PM warning for the first offense, and a warning point for the second offense, you don't want to know what we'll do on the 3rd offense.

What if we aren't a hosting company, but want to recommend them?

Easy, you may make your own thread about the company you wish to recommend, but you may not post them in the paid company thread, ever. If we see that the recommendation is 'scripted' or just blatent backwater advertising, which I can tell guys, and I have my eye on a few of you.

What is good about this?

Act now, and get the be the first few posts the people who come here will read! Hurry quick, spots come and go, and it's a supply and demand basis here, if you luck out and are on the 90th page, sorry, we won't bump you. If you get in now, you get to have your hosting company in a thread, stickied.. that has 'Important' next to it, so you get to feel almighty. Which means it is free forced advertsing, imagine that!

What else are you guys going to do?

Glad you asked, even if you didn't. Let's explain it in parts.

a. Web Hosting Discussion is under a martial law pertainingt advertising from company representatives, this you already know.

b. Violaters, we will warn on the first offense with a written PM, and a removal of the post/thread(depends on what you did). Second offense, a warn, and possibly your post about your company in the Paid Company thread removed. Third offense, you will recieve a warning, your post about your company will definately be removed, and you will be recommeded for ban.

c. Anyone who comments about hosts in the company thread, are subject to the same rule, only thing different is if you aren't a host, you'll get all the same punishments, except you won't have your post about your company removed, since you can't. Everyone is bound to these rules, whether you're a hosting company representative or not.

Well... what can we do here chiefs?

You can discuss anything related to Web Hosting, this includes, but is not limited to, domains, selling domains, talking about tech support, billing/help software, and more. Any discret references about your company will bound you to the offenses we have setup, if you discredit another company, or someone who goes with so-so company, you will be in the offense rule, they are not different.

So in turn, this is how things will be run, and I'm going to pull overhaul on getting things arranged like that. So here is a review of what will happen if you do not follow rules from now on, regardless of what offense, we aren't playing with you guys anymore, we've seen the discrediting, and blatent advertising, and backwater advertising long enough.

Offenses

1st Offense - Post/thread at hand removed, and a PM warning to the offender, without any warning points.

2nd Offense - Post/thread at hand removed, you will recieve a warning point(s), depends on the severity of the problem, if not major just 1, but if severe, could result in as much as 3.

3rd Offense - Post/thread at hand removed, if you're a hosting company, your ad in the paid hosting thread will be deleted, and not put back, and you will be banned from advertising. Also a recommendation for permanent ban, meaning you will no longer be allowed to post here at TF, will be placed on your name.

4th Offense - Everything stated above, but you will be immediately banned, no questions asked. Along with being banned, if you represent a hosting company, that name here will be banned as well, unless someone by chance has a legit recommendation.

Now these rules are fair, and they will be enforced severely from now on. Thanks for your time. Also, all of Briony's(DarthPingu's) rules stated before this, also still apply.

Your TF hosting police,
Shawn & Briony (Locke & DarthPingu)

This seems like an honest misinterpretation of the rules. The rules Xgenesis has quoted are in effect, but apply more to replying to threads and not actually starting new ones.

It is correct that owners and reps must only post in the "Paid Hosting - Company Listing" thread, and not start new threads with special offers.

Technically he is in the wrong. However that is no excuse for the poor attitude displayed by others. First of all, we have a large team of moderators to do the job of moderating. There is always someone here to clean up after you guys. Three of you "notifying" him of the rules is not needed.

Seriously, there are way to many hosts out there for you to expect you seriously gain an advantage from subtly discrediting a company in the hosting section of TutorialForums.
