my my, you have alot of questions ___________________ You aint died til you've seen me. that's not possible because they're laws about this... there's a lot companies where you can get your own domain name... you can get a domain name with startin prices at $10 to more... ... about cjb.net and www.tk, you actually pay for the domain, with advertisements... ___________________ You can get domains for free, but you do have to do something in return, many people use there design skills to do a job for someone, and for their pay, they get a free domain. Or, some places make you sign up for 100 things or something like that, then you get a free domain. And sometimes, you meet someone very nice, and they will give you a free one. Try entering a contest with the prize of a free domain. ___________________ Cell phone geek. The reason some companies give away free domains is as a promotion... actually I haven't seen any domains given away free in a very long time, except maybe 1 of them in a contest or something. The BEST deal right now in domains is https://domains.rackshack.net Personally I think anyone not willing to invest $5-10 per YEAR on a domain name, does not have the right own a website, and certainly no right to complain about not having a domain CJB.net and similar services provide "forwarding subdomains/webuser" addresses..... like http://myname.cjb.net or http://www.cjb.net/~myname ... this only requires 1 domain name to do for unlimited users. Considering the level of popups/advertising most of these put on these days, they are completely not worth it... better to pay a few $ for your own domain than put up with all that. Peace. ___________________ -- Dave

Untrue...Well Sort Of True, With The www.Tk You Can Select In The Options Menu "Do Not Display Pop-Ups Or Ads" The Majority Of People Are Too Lazy To Config There Domain And Do Not Realise This. ___________________ Xpposure.net - - - Coming Soon They are also cheap, as Absolute Cross said, anyone who cant be bothered invested about $10 per year on a domain name shouldnt own a website. GoDaddy is also a good place. They charge $9 a year, or $8 for a transfer and 1 year extension. I must go check out rackshack though, I could use another domain for my portfolio. I already own 5 domains ___________________ My awesomeness cannot be contained within a mere 400x50 pixel graphic. "put ads on" I bet some do it on purpose ___________________ how do you weigh human life? 1. Domains are a replacement for the long & dull IP address. A little advertisement here. If you need a FREE domain redirection WITHOUT pop-up ad, please feel free to use my newly launched service: http://thesubdomain.com/ I hope it is useful to you. Good luck! ___________________ Regards, Last edited by michaelfoo, September 10th, 2003 10:25 PM (Edited 1 times) |
