Colour discrepancies between illustrator & pshop

Hi. I've been doing illustrations in Illustrator (go figure! haha) but when I open up the eps in photoshop, the colours become totally washed out. They look so rich and saturated in Illustrator, but even when I print from an eps, they're washed out.

Can anyone shed some light on this? I was wondering if I need to adjust my colour calibration in photoshop. If my monitor was "off" then you'd think both the eps and the jpeg I created would look the same.

Thanks.

When you open the file in Photoshop are you using RGB color palettes or CMYK palettes?

(I think) By default, Illustrator works in CMYK, so if you were to save the file with that format, then open it as RGB in Photoshop it would look a little funky. (and vise versa)

Yes I'm using CMYK because it's for print. Someone told me I should be using pantone colours but it seems odd that it looks way different in Illustrator than in Photoshop.

Maybe you are using different color profiles.

Using pantone colors make absolutely no difference, as they also work with CMYK. Pantone are used when you send your files for special printing.

Illustrator works and Saves in CMYK and Photoshop Opens/Works/Saves in RGB, siwtch to RGB in illustrator and it will work I think

Ok. I know you guys are trying to help, but I know the difference between RGB and CMYK Smile

What colour settings should I be using in Photoshop and in Illustrator so they match?

Thanks.
