You've tried pressing ctrl+c to copy and ctrl+v to paste?

Yes, of cource. I've tried to copy from menu (edit-copy) as well.
I work in Photoshop since version 3.5 and I never had such problem... Re-installation of Windows (XP) does not help.

a quick way is to just duplicate the text layer

or

1. create text layer (hit enter or the check to commit the text layer - finish it)
2. now while the text tool is selected, highlight the text , hit ctrl-C, then enter to exit the text layer
3. Now click away from the original text to start a new text layer and press ctrl-v

works fine for me, hope it helps

ctrl-c then ctrl v after highlighting the text in the text layer

it wont work on a rasterised text layer cos that text is not active, but just pixels.

i.e. you can't scan a text document into PS then copy/paste to another document as text, cos it is not text but pixel data.

so if your text is still a proper text layer, you should be able to copy/paste it into notepad or whatever

No, you don't understant the question. Only beginner can try to copy a text from raster image Smile (I do graphic design since 1993).
I can't copy a text from Photoshop text layer and paste it to other Windows program. I can't copy a text from interface text field. For example, I can't copy color value from Color Picker windows, page width form New document window, etc. That's the problem.
I guess some third-party program blocks this function but I'm not sure. I always worked fine but now copy-paste function does not work. I'm trying to understand why...
