Forum Features... I want your opinions.

You guys are good to ask about this, because you all use forums at least semi-regularly and many of you run them. I want to know what features you think would be cool/usefull to have,either user-side or admin side.

I want anything and everything, regardless of the load it will impact or code complexisty, whether its been done before or not - its much easier for me to say 'this will rape load' or 'if i change it a bit like this it will be great' then for other people to guess how I code and handle forums.

So, give me features! Please! And of course, you get credit for feature ideas.

Not really sure...I'm pretty satisfied with all the features of already available boards. Your forums look really nice. Great project to work on.

Topic Marking!

It's a little hard to explain, so I photoshopped a picture:

*blue= topic you "marked"
*yellowish color= topic you post

I'd be really handy to quickly find topics you find interesting or the likes, and finding your own topics! You could even have a "Find All Marked" button!

Want an idea Ares? Do something that is getting overly repeated, the postbit styles. Please to god try something different and original, I bet you'll get people willing to change if you can offer unique perspectives.

I have dots for topics youve posted, i may also bold titles. As for the marking, I'm doing a bookmark/fav thread thing - that may be a great idea for displaying them in the normal thread showing.

Locke, I'll come up with a bunch of templates and show them all here... I do like originality. THats a good idea as well.

For admin panel, suspend uses for so long so you don't have to do it manuly.

You mean like timed bans? Im going to do that via a event system, which will also be with the warning points

ie

WHEN user.warningpoints > 10 FORCEGROUPJOIN user, 'BANNED_USERS'

IF date = 04/04/04 FORCEGROUPEXIT user, 'BANNED_USERS'

Its very basic, I'll have a nice admin side where you dont have to make that stuff up, but im thinking

if

(warning points, posts, refferals, days registered, date, karma (?))

=/</>/etc

number, date

then

force_group_join/exit, change_usersettinghere, change_userpermissionhere

It could be used for timed bans (you set when users unbaneed, happens automatically) and lots of other stuff.

I think i can force it through a fake-cron, which shouldnt be too hard.
