Server Online Script

I need a php script that will ping an ip to check to see if its online or not its for my friends game server that he runs on his comp it needs to run on my server and check to see if his is online every few seconds or so anyone know of a script liek this or how to create one?

There are loads of these scripts arround anyway.

do you know where???? plz if your gonna reply post a link i cant find any of these scritps...

nope i dont, you can try asking www.clandestine.nu clan where they got theirs

doesn't work means a lot of things.
does it give errors?

i tested it and it works on my windows machine.
