I believe u can't shape tween bitmaps
you can motion tween them by first converting them to movie clips, or graphic symbols (f8)
and you can make the first image fade out till the other is fully visible by tweening the top image from alpha 100 to 0

You _could_ shape tween a bitmap, provided you first used the Trace Bitmap function to convert it to "vector", but the results that would yield would not be what you're looking for.
Basically, the amount of vectors for a highly detailed bitmap that was converted using 1 min area, 1 tolerance, and pixel/pixel for corners and such would bog down the animation harsh, even on the most powerful workstation.
You're better off tracing the object with the pen tool, depending on the image of course..

either do as tripleFX says and use optimize to cut back on the corners of the shape.
There is another way of shape tweening a bitmap........ well kinda......
use the buitmap as a fil and fill a vector shape with it: ctrl+b the bitmap use the eyedropper tool to get thebitmap and then use the paintbucket tool to fill your shape. Tweening this shape and twening the fill at the same time can give quite interesting effects!
