Reasonable $10 Hosting

I'm planning on buying a dedicated server, but before that happens I need to gather up enough clients.

Currently, plans are:

    [*]Name // Disk Space // Monthly Bandwidth // Monthly Cost (prepaid yearly) [*]Web // 3GB // 25GB // $10 USD [*]Gaming // 200MB // 200GB // $45 USD

Custom setups can be arranged. REPEAT: CUSTOM SETUPS CAN BE ARRANGED.

The Web plan will include:

[*]Apache Web Server running on Debian 3.0 [*]PHP4 [*]MySQL [*]FTP* [*]POP3 E-mail*, IMAP4 support a maybe [*]Usermin -- makes things profoundly easier [*]If enough people sign up and commit for a year, then Cpanel will most likely find its way into our hands Smile It makes things even easier than Usermin [*]Other features are negotiable (and for the most part may be free). An IRC server may be doable.

The Gaming plan will include:

[*]200GB of Bandwidth** [*]200MB of space (or enough space to house the server, whichever is more) [*]One POP3 Email [*]Note: If the game server is not one I've installed before or is of a different mod (In other words, not CS or not something pretty easy to install), your hosting request may take longer to be approved (as i will need to test this on my home computer) or denied (the test was unsuccessful after several tries).

*This may take a little while to set up -- hopefully fast with a friend's help -- but from there it should work just fine. Depending on configuration, it may be possible to set up a script that can add email and FTP accounts, but such a script involves coding on my part and will probably take a little (concerning i have a life outside of the net) amount of time to get running)

**Game Servers running CS use about 5KB bandwidth per player per second, and typically are used for half a day at near-full capacity before going empty again based on statistics from a friend's server. You figure it out. This should be sufficient bandwidth for a fairly popular server. If by some chance your server is used night and day for a whole month and you go over, I'll turn a blind eye if it doesn't entail me covering bandwidth costs, and it likely won't. This hosting must be prepaid and will only be activated when i have two clients (which will pay for a server) or sufficient bandwidth to spare on a webhosting box (meaning 5 or 6 web server clients at least plus a gaming server client).

Questions and Comments would be appreciated.
Please post if interested, and keep in mind that this will be available when at least 10 clients sign up for webhosting, or 5 or 6 for webhosting and one for a game server.

sorry. webmin is easily installable with debian's apt-get tool, and it's open source. I'm not going to invest in a tool i know nothing of, especially when i'm just starting. Once i get this off the ground, then i'll check it out. I'm not a company or anything.

koko... there are so many hosts already online. Why do you think people are going to just jump to a service that hasn't even started yet.

i read the rules and i do want comments. but i'm not a company, and if i were i don't see a violation. Stop making assumptions about what I'm looking for or not looking for. I don't appreciate other people attempting to think for me. It's quite rude.

You two are assuming much and making me look like the fool, and i'm offended. I don't think people are just going to "jump in" -- where did you get that idea? Oh right, not from me. I'm just testing the water to gauge interest and test my chances. Am i really wrong for taking a risk? Isn't that how every business gets started entering the market? I'm offering a machine that I personally admin so people can ask for stuff and expect me to add it, not open a support ticket with a host and hope they are willing to accomodate some unprofitable feature for their virtual hosting or add something that would take time to install for no forseeable profit.

It's insulting how many people always assume the worst of my good or pure intentions. I post, seeing if people are interested in hosting and if they have any comments, and i go so far to reply and make sure their question has at the very least a resolution, and then someone tells me that all i'm trying to do is sell something and i expect people to give me money up the wazoo. I'm so reassured. not.

me, vivehosting and stewis are obviously not the only ones making assumptions, i know prowebuk, and dhrx.co.uk (and i assume vivehosting) own / rent the full server and have full access to do upgrades etc
