I'm a newbie tring to help out a newbie. he has Ill 9.0 but hasn't learnt how to use it. I wanted him to do me a buttom for my web site. Let's say it a circle, when we save it, there's a box around it. How do you get rid of the box?Does that make sence? We can't find it in the man.

I think I know what you are talking about. Do you have a drop shadow or a blur, or something to that effect on the circle? That could be your problem right there. My advice to you would be to get rid of those effects, and then export it to Photoshop using the .eps format.

If there isn't a drop shadow causing the "box", try simply copying and pasting the shapes from Illustrator to Photoshop. This gives you the option of either creating a new shape layer, or pasting as pixels into Photoshop. Do whatever works best for you.

No, it's the (select box) I go in and tell it I want a 160pxs x 90pxs at that time I get a box in the drawing area. Then I put in the circle and add some colors, text ect. ect. but when I save it and bring it into the web page I see the (select box) not just the circle.

Ummm... I don't really follow you there, but I think that you could just remove the "select box" and then save it.

Could you maybe clarify a little bit?

O.K. I start Ill. and you get your main drawing screen. Then I pick that I want a circle. It ask what size so I say 160pxs x 90pxs. When I draw the circle it puts a (select) box around it thats 160 x 90. That's the box I'm talking about. When I save the circle, even though I don't see the box when I save it, when I pull up the gif and insert it in my web page I can see the whole 160pxs x 90pxs box. It's like a box with a circle in it. I just want the circle. Do you see the smilies to the left of the screen? Say that's what my circle looks like. When I save the gif file I have a box around the smilie face. So it's like I see 4 corners.

Ahhh. I get it. In your "save for web" (that's what you should be using to save your .gif) preferences, make sure you select .gif, and have the transparency box checked. You may want to change your matte color to match the background of your site, too.
