Slicing
I am kinda confused about a few things. I am trying to start up my own site just for fun, but so far I am not having much luck. I made a design in photoshop that I am fairly pleased with, but it doesnt do me any good just sitting on my hardrive instead of being on the web. U see, I made one big image that I want to split up so you can click on different parts, but I still want it to look like one image. I believe the way to do this is slicing, wich I can't get to work. If anyone knows how I can do this please tell me.
One more thing. I used to use frontpage to make a little site, but to make something more proffesional looking I will probably need something else. What do you people use to do make websites?
Thnx in advance.

Hi,
You can use Photoshop's Slice tool to slice your image..Press K to select it. It works like the rectangular marquee. Drag an area around the part you want to be sliced. Do this as often as you need to. Next, go to File -> Save for web and save the whole thing in a folder.
I suggest using Dreamweaver to make webpages, and then clean the code by hand if you know HTML. You can find it at http://www.macromedia.com
I hope this helps.

I believe it's easier to go from PS to ImageReady and slice your images there. It's also easier to make rollovers in IR if you're gonna have those.
As for the HTML proggy, use Dreamweaver.

Thanks for that link, it's very helpful. I have one more thing to ask and that is where is a good place to get webspace? This may be a funny question, but since @home changed to Rogers, they have had so many problems and I can't get my webspace to work. I just need a place to get webspace.
THNX

P.S. Does the server that I upload my page to need any special extensions for Dreamweaver?

No, dreamweaver will produce html web pages, so it will work on all web servers.
