FTP Accounts

What are these FTP accounts? I assume this means space on your server that people can download stuff from, right? For instance, you'd put a tutorial in that directory, correct? But why would you need more than one of these FTP accounts? Some of them have 3 or more of these. Don't you just need 1?

u use that to download/upload data(html, etc.) to your web host.
u can use defferent ftp accounts to different people.

lets say u have www.mydomain.com - 1 ftp account

lets say you give ur friend a sub folder on ur site so that he can have his own website also.

www.mydomain.com/myfriend

but u do not want him to know ur password and access ur files on your root directory

so u use an ftp account to limit his access to only:
mydomain.com/myfriend

thus he can only access files within the folder /myfriend but cannot access any file up dat.

ur welcome

Thanks man, I got it now.

Unknown, this post is for n00b enlightenment. I'm using AtomHost and nowhere in their user guide is this explained. It's a good and affordable service but they don't explain crap to you.
