Digital Camera
Hi. Can someone please recommend me a good digital camera. Something nice and affordable and good enough quality for editing later on.
Btw, I'm from NZ so I'd probably have to do with something just a little short of what's standard in the US.

your question is entirely too broad.
there is no single "good" camera
whats your budget? factor in about 20% of the cost of the camera to be spent on accessories, mainly a larger media card and a case for the camera
what will you be shooting and how often?
is size a factor? if yes, do u need a larger or smaller camera?
will you be printing photos? if yes, how large and how often?

Hello,
I have a FugiFilm Fine Pix 2800 Digital. It works extremly well. I take some really cool high resolution shots with it. But i agree with Mike Panic on this, your question is to broad.
good luck finding a good one

Sorry about that....I'm a noob to photography.
What will I be shooting? Basically upclose things. I don't think I'll need zoom more than a couple of meters.
Size isn't much of a factor but I defintely don't want something that makes me look like a nature photographer
I defintely wouldn't print it off my printer but may take it to a photo shop (but rarely if at all).
Hope that helps a bit

you sound like a canidate for a nikon coolpix 3100 - nikon has by far the best macro abilities of any consumer digital on the market, and this camera will give u enough options to grow for a while, but not totally dumbfound you upon opening the box
u should easily be able to get 8x10(12) photos off it

Since I need these images for editing, just a question on resolution. If it says 800*600, does that really mean it'll fill my 800*600 desktop or is it somehow different for cameras?

Mike has a good suggestion. I would also recommend the coolpix 3100 or the 4300 if it's in your budget. You just can't beat the coolpix product line with its quality macros.
And yup 800x600 would fill up your 800x600 desktop. But if that means your looking for at a camera whos highest resolution is 800x600...you might want something better. A digital image at full size isn't crisp enough for me. So, if you want 800x600 pixels, then get a camera that shoots at 1600x1200, and you'll be happier with the quality when you resize to 800x600
Take care,
Toni
