Looks extremely empty... Way too much whitespace. I'd say center the layout, and add some type of background image or background color.

I'd also suggest making the font bigger, it's barely readable, 8px is way too small.

I agree... it's very white.

Also, on your splash page, it says it works best in 1024x768 or HiGer. You might want to put an "h" in there.

that a default windows font? if it is, props for finding it, it looks wicked, if its not, embed it. Use the tutorial at spoono (http://www.spoono.com/tutorials/html/embeddingfonts). I like it, i cant wait to see it when its done. Nice colors, but it does look a little plain. Maybe get a pixel background and put borders around the news/content table? i think that would look pretty cool.
