All-Gay High School

So....what's your opinion on this all gay high school?

I think it's wrong

Just because you're different doesnt mean you're special

I'm all for equal rights, but hell, I want a fuckin parade and school and stuff too, if bis and gays can get a parade, why not straight guys?

What gives?

*rolleyes*

Society = Crap

If its a private school, who cares, they are the ones who arent getting a real experience. My roommate last year went to a private catholic school all through grade school and high school. He did turn out pretty normal, but he definately has what many people would call a distorted view of the world. That really makes it sound pretty extreme, but his worldview is just different than the norm, i guess.

And yes, there are many double standards in our society. Things like the fact that you can have a gay pride parade and it is generally not frowned upon... while if you tried to have a male pride, or a white pride parade, people would think of you as a bigot or a racist.

i go to a technical school, as i have mentioned once before. The school offers many vocational fields, some of which (cosmetology & fashion design) bring in a...not large...but abnormal amount of openly gay homosexual's. In my mind sexual preference is a personal issue and none of my business, but sometimes it's difficult to feel comfortable around a gay guy. i'm sure they notice people feel awkward around them, and it probably bothers them. I'm sure alot of them would feel more comfortable in a surrounding where they aren't being judged and picked on.

i do think the gay pride parades are extremely excessive. I think originally they were probably to raise awarness about the voilence towards gay's, but now it's just a big ... look at it! that's great your gay. now sit down and shut up like everyone else.

It's a public high school, not a private

I say just live and let live, I'm not gay, and I don't hang around (or even know any), but hey if you leave me along I"ll return the favor.

I think it would only be fair then if there is also an all straight school.

Layer: Straight people aren't ridiculed and stereotyped by the vast majority of the population. So don't talk about "fairness" until you have walked down the hall everyday listening to people who don't know you judge you and call you faggot. That said, I don't think it's a good idea to seperate people who are different from one another, but I do sympathize with the gays in school who have to deal with constant derision and scorn...

a_bomb: Have you ever asked yourself why you can't be comfortable being around gay people? The way you describe it, you and you're classmates uneasiness is causing harm to both you and the gay guys. Why can't people just deal with the fact that some people are born gay? If we prejudice against them, it opens up the fact that we could just as easily be prejudice against anyone who is born into something beyond their control...skin color, sex, etc...

The goal here is to work towards a world where people accept one another, and learn to enjoy being around one another, even if they don't share each other's believes. An all gay school doesn't really point in that direction...but if society can't get it's act together on how it portrays gay people, it may come down to 4 years of abuse vs. 4 years of...hairstyling (j/k of course, but y'all get the point(hopefully))

what the hell are you jumping on my back for? I'm not prejudiced against gays, i thought i made that pretty clear in my post. i'm uncomfortable around him because the kind of person that he is. Plus he flirts with straight guys. he makes sexually suggestive comments, and they make the situation uncomfortable. and don't even try to say it's because i'm prejudiced against his sexual preference. i'm uncomfortable with it because i don't find him attractive. i get the same way when an ugly girl does those things.

There is nothing i hate more than people that immediatly claim any negative opinion about someone or something is because they are prejudiced.
