Can I convert a PhotoShop (5.5) raster file to a vector type somehow?

I dont think so, because the Raster file is already pixalated.... so to spek...

These apps are two different animals. PhotoShop is a raster based app while AI is a vector. Now to answer your question.

There are a couple of ways to accomplish this; One is to run your PS doc through Adobe Streamline. this will convert your raster image to vector. It does a fair job. but will need touch up. and it's best to do one color at a time, as separate files, then remerge.

The second option is to create paths in PS then import them in to AI.
