why wouldent it be a good idea to increase virtural ram? becuase if the hard drive is the problem, it would cause more activity with it? or another reason.

the other explanation is that your cd's have the funky anti-copy stuff on them, which totally screws up playback on a computer. they didn't really think that one through all the way. idiots. a way around this is to take a black sharpie marker and draw a thin line around the outer edge of the cd. if you hold the cd in the light you'll be able to see where the music is written (from the inside out) and then there will be blank space and then on the outside of the cd is more written stuff. the outer stuff is the evil copy-right stuff. just mark over it, and they will playback like normal. i suggest you try that on a cd you don't much like though first. although if done correctly it wont mess up playback any, if you go over the wrong stuff on accident you just lost a cd.

thanks i think thats the problem.

ps. if i do have alot of spyware, could anyone recommend a program to get rid of it all.

get spybot search & destroy it's the best spy bot for free.

also check your connections.

You may want to upgrade it's driver or unistall it then reinstall it.

lastly you may consider purchasing a new cd-r drive they are rather cheap (under $20 for a 56x drive). and cd-rw's arn't much more expensive
