Tutorial: Developing Websites with XHTML and CSS
Remember the CSS Tips Thread?
Well, me and Dan expanded upon it wrote a tutorial on how to develop websites using XHTML and CSS. I just finished writing all of the code for it, here it is:
http://home.comcast.net/~fredv4/xhtml/
Since it's version 1.0, there may be a few minor errors(I still need to fix some validation errors)... If you find any, we would appreciate it if you could point them out to us. Also, any general comments are welcome.
Also, moderators, I'd suggest making this thread a sticky since it will answer a lot of questions and reduce threads which ask questions that are already answered within this tutorial.
Thanks everyone!

It's finally up!
Good job, and it looks nice. However, somehow your name jumped before mine..
Also, Fred, I think we should change 'We hope this tutorial has helped you to understand XHTML and CSS more. Good luck creating your site!' to 'We hope this tutorial has helped you to understand XHTML and CSS better. Good luck with creating your site!' What do you think?

Haha... I changed it so your name comes first now. Just wanted to see if you'd notice.
And I changed the footer message, good suggestion!

Well, good tutorial, but a few things...
1) There's a PHP error in your example. Apparently you forgot the semicolon on the 1st line ($ext = '.php'; /* This is your file extension. If your files are .txt, change it appropiately. */).
2) No offence, but it's not very descriptive... i mean, i know this stuff so it doesn't matter, but even i was confused at some stuff that i know  So, yeah, provide more info on how to do stuff. For example, just 'use class' for classes (.moo { } etc.) doesn't say very much... How's the user supposed to figure out that you're supposed to do something like <span class="moo">text</span> to apply the .moo props to the text ?
Other than that, good guide, i'm still reading some of it.

Ah, thanks for catching the PHP error. I didn't notice it. I'll try to add more description onto version two like you said, though.

Thanks for the comments Ynhockey and Cloud-, as I said before... It's only version 1.0. There's still a good amount of work we need to do (add more detail, no validation errors). I'll fix the PHP error right now.
Keep the comments coming!

I give you guys props for writing that huge *** guide, and I'm sure after reading it people will be able to use a little CSS, but as for your thoughts on converting your tables to DIV's...Man, they're no help.
I mean, I would never learn anything from that section. Like, why aren't the properties of "header" shown? What if people want more than a header and two columns?
Sorry for sounding like an ***, but I've been through many tutorials on anything you could think of that were a complete waste of my time (And things sink into my head fine in school, 95.025 GPA "fine" =plain.).
Like someone above said, maybe give some more details. Dan's helped me several times, I'd expect a more helpful guide from 'im.
:realizes that Dan will never lend a helping hand again for this post:
