Mp3 players what to get

im tring to figure out what mp3 player i want to buy and all im really sure of is i want it hard drive base and not an ipod. for the fact that there hard drives give out if used for data storage and i wannt be able to back up vitails and use it to transfer files. so any one wanna give me a lil advice on what mite be the best to get let me know. im probley gonna spend between 250 and 350. and was lookin at some Archos models and the zen II from nomad. anyway drop me a hint if yah got one!!

I would aim more towards a mini disc player. It seems you can hold much more music, and you can always have different discs with you. With an MP3 player, you are limited to it's space, and perhaps a bit of expandable memory.

ther ones i am looking at have 20 Gig hard drives and thats more space than i will ever use for music so it leaves the mini disk in the dust

With a mini disk player, you'll be limited to the space in your pockets. Besides, as Squiglie guy said, there are MP3 players of 20GB.

Screw mini-discs man. I got a Creative Labs Nomad iiC. I jogged with it everyday, and dropped it hundreds of times. I eventually was washing my face off with a towel and it fell into the crapper. Pretty...shtitty eh? Get the pun there???? Ya anywho, I love it, I put 2 full CD's on it (never changed it in a year now, same two CD's, Hatebreed's "Perserverance" and Mushroomhead's "XX"). But those, of course, are compliments of the expansion card. Definetely check out the Nomad iiC. DO NOT GET A NIKE MP3 PLAYER, you're setting yourself up for a let down and a long a$$ wait in line for your money back!!

i wouldn't get those mini discs either. way to trendy, you can't depend on it...i've got an mpan f50 but unfortunately with a (way too small) memory of 32MB. it depens, if you want it to be confortable, anywhere you can take it and want it to fit your pocket. take a small 128Mb with expandable Smart Media cart memory. it should cost you $200-$250. or creatives jukebox 3. big, but 20gig is a lot.
