v-cool effect

i am really attracted by this effect called "V-Cool".

anybody could tell me where i can find a tutorial about this?

First of all, I highly doubt it is 3D.

Second, there's a billion components to this, which part do you need? If my guess is correct, and you mean the bright part, it's just a circle with color dodge, and then some Smudging and finally some light rays achieved probably by the motion blur.

Yeah its not really an effect but more of multiple effects. And a hell of a lot of creativity. Wink

Alot of these guys who make these images use 3d tools and finish with photoshop.

definitely photoshop.
the big flare is most likely done with the polygonal lasso tool with different layers, some more blurred than the other.
the crystals look like good brushing

these kind of topics always make me spend lots of hours in photoshop, just to try it out ;P

this is what i did with polygonal lasso, blendmodes and some smudging. And some brushing for the crystals (except the very back ones, those are a render, but could've been about any random shape there)

not quite as good as the pic u gave. but I'm still pretty pleased with the result ^^
