Selections via Brushes
Just wondering if its possible to paint an area with a brush and have just the painted segments turn into a selection which you can cut away or stroke or anything that you could do to a normal selection.

Make a new layer, paint whatever you wish with the brush. Ctrl+click the layer, and there is your selection.

also look into using the 'quick mask' feature.
When in quick mask mode you can paint a selection (represented by a rubylinth (pink colour)). When you exit the quick mask mode, the painted area becomes your selection and is represented by the traditional 'marching ants'. Its a useful thing to know on occasions.

Especially if you are using a layer-specefic hue/saturation layer, then you also have the option to enter quick-mask mode and you can just paint over all the areas you want to have another color.
The color you get in QM mode is changeable too (pink is hard when working with red/pink colors, so set it to green then
)
