Reliable host for small web sites
6531.1
I am trying to figure out the best solution for several small home based businesses that want to sell on the internet. Most will want their own domain name but their sites will be small around 3 Meg. They will want to write one check for host, domain reg. & maintenance fees. I would end up being a reseller so I am very concerned about finding a reliable source since my name would be on it. I like my current host but they charge $20 per month for 20 Meg and I believe that is their smallest package. I could not make anything off of the site if I had to charge them that much. Does anyone out there have a web host they have had a good experience with? There are several on the web that offer hosting for $7.95 which I believe to be reasonable but unless I know of someone who has had experience with them I am afraid to sign on. Does anyone have a host they could recommend that would meet the criteria?
Thanks,
Tammie

I must say... $20 /month for 20 MB is really too much....
Not like I want to promote myself, but our reseller program much more flexible.
I know you are doing some research now, so just wanna tell you that for $20 / month you can get much more resources. At the same time try to be cautious, and don't trust those who offer you "unlimited" things
Succes!

Educate me please
I understand MB of space but as far as bandwidth I have a pretty limited understanding of it.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Bandwidth has to do with how much traffic is allowed or if you have streaming audio or video or possibly how fast Flash gets through. With the sites I have done that has not been an issue. Most are under 10meg and have little Flash. I have some who are interested in movie mpgs being installed to download but have not done a lot of research as to the limitations of bandwidth. A standard static web page with about 3000 hits a day. Would not use a lot of bandwidth would it?
The people I am making this proposal to will have pretty small sites with not a lot of traffic at least in the begining.
Thanks for your help,

Hi again Tammie
whenever your website / page is viewed it will use bandwidth, it depends on the size of the webpage and the hits you will have to determine your bandwidth amount.
You may well be better off trying out a small package for a month and then upgrading as you need to, that way you will be able to determine a fairly accurate bandwidth usage amount for your website.
Any more questions feel free to ask them.
Best regards
Chris

Tammie, if you are serious about the bandwidth being less that 3MB for each site then i wouldnt mind giving you a free reseller account. We could work out the bandwidth/storage amounts later. No catch's.
Reason? most, infact all of our current customers are on our single domain hosting plans and i guess you could tell me your experience with one of our reseller plans.
email me at andrew_ganey@localhoster.com
If your not interested then all you really need is a small reseller account from any of the millions of web hosts out there. Make sure you go with a reputable host so you dont get burned
