The planets can be done in Photoshop and I am almost 100% sure that they are. Here is a link to a page that might be a LITTLE helpful for you,

http://www.developingwebs.net/photoshop/spacesindex.php

It defenately won't teach you how to make an image like that because tha takes a lot of practice and experience but if you try, you'll do it eventually. ( I hope, Grin )

What you need:

Wacom Tablet
Photoshop with Airbrush tool
Layer Blending Styles
A HELLUVA LOT of skill...

That kinda thing needs years of practice with the airbrush, you can't just 're-create' it, I doubt even Greg Martin could re-create it (even though it is his work, it would be really hard to do again)...

which bit would you like to know how to do? there is a hell of alot of elements to the pic... you got the comets, the stars, the nebulas, the suns, the planet, the blue spiral galaxy type black hole thing, the speed effect, etc...

and scryypy is right, it's unique. You could recreate some elements from it, but no the actual thing.

i've been to digital blashemy, thats how i found www.artofgregmartin.com he entered the member gallery. I would like how to do everything, especially the "gradient" he has for the rings. the comets also interest me a lot, how he did the tail and the lighting effect. and the background is really cool. It looks like it was sponge painted and i was wondering how to do that in photoshop. any knowledge, links or insight is greatly appriciated. thanks
