Friends Of Ed

I was given a bunch of Friends of Ed books on Flash MX, Actionscript, Photoshop 7 and Illustrator 10. Their books are great. Well written, well planned out and great for beginners and advanced users.

I used to visit their forums often, but I stopped visiting regularly, and I went to check the forums yesterday and there was a msg at the top of the page saying that Friends of Ed was no more.... does anyone know what's up?!?!?!?!

yea they teach you how to use the programs.

I actually JUST found the reason which is : Their parent company, Peer Information, has just been declared officially insolvent (bankrupt).

so if ya wanna delete this thread, go for it.

yeah Friends of Ed shut down. Its was a pretty sad day...

Great!! Their books should be much cheaper now!

But they won't be making new ones

Really? I am very suprised if this is true.
I was once set to author for freindsofed but never really had time. I spoke with Dan of thinkdan recently who is always doing projects for FOD and he mentioned nothing about them closing down.

Hmm, Off to investigate.

we had a post about this in Somethingleet maybe it can help you. We came up with some good ideas as to why they shut down and I think someone actually knew why.

This is the official reason why friends of ed is no more.

It sucks hardcore, their books (at least the ones I have) are amazing. And they were always the books that people recemmended to me when I asked which books I should buy. Now that they won't be making new books, I feel kinda lost as to which books to get, when I decide it's time for new ones.

And I'm now in a rush to get all the help files off the FoE site, cause I dunno if I'll be able to get em else where once the site is down.
