what video card to get?

i'm building myself a computer and i'm trying to figure out what video card to get. i want one that has 128MB of RAM and it i'd really like either a GeForce4 or ATI Radeon. i've heard that ATI's drivers make their cards really unstable. is that true? if anyone knows where to get the card their posting about please post a link to it if you can. thx in advance!

i may have a Geforce 4 ti4600 128DDR Smile but when my Bday comes along i will be buying a ATI R 9700 Pro becasue they outpreform the Nvidia range and aare capable of keeping up with the FX series of Nvidia cards...

If you have a processor, ram and motherboard that will compliment the card properly get the the RADEON 9000 PRO. I have the card myself it it runs just fine. As for the games, it runs WarCraft 3 on High everything perfectly. It runs UT2k3 a bit laggy at times on high everything but that's because i have a bad processor: AMD AthlonXP 1500+. Sad Either way, the RADEON is cheaper and is good quality. A OK

Well I've just built a new system with the 9700 Pro included. Before I had the GeForce4 Ti4200 and the 9700 Pro blows the fooker away!

Get the 9700 Pro

go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, GO ON! Grin

really i would get a 9800 pro. they areon pre order now. It severly kicks the GF FX's rear.

edit: also the new 3.2 catalyst is much more stable then some of the nvidia drivers i've used.

Yep. The FX was made to kill the 9700.. but then Radeon made 9800, which killed the FX. Plus, it totally blocks up your PCI slot with a huge plastic thing.. not good.

Alright first, geforcemx ANYTHING sucks. Just leave it at that. The geforce ti series is alright but doesnt compare in any way to the 9700 pro. ATI 9000? No. This is a mobile card, despite the fact it does have decent performance.

Just dont let me see a geforce mx in the same catagory as a 9700.

ATIs drivers are next to flawless now. Do some research next time.

why dont you get the best video card out there.. its called the ATI Fire GL X1

256MB of DDR ram, and its better than anything you can buy on the market today... check it out at www.atitech.com

the only drawback is the 800 dollar pricetag
