Has anybody here ever worked with Livejournal?

I am trying to start a new website for the school I attend, and besides the research materials, I wanted to host my own live journal (obviosly using livejournal's original code, I am a horrible at perl, and cant handle learning it at the moment).

Anyways, has anybody here ever installed this before?

Does anybody know if there is an ASP version going around?

Is there one that works under SQL Server instead of MySQL?

This is somewhat a silly question, but, what exactly do I need to upload from the cvs folder? The folder conatains things such as bml, livejournal, etc. Each one has a different purpose (live journal script, live journal embedded website, etc.). But the manual says one runs off another? But it doesnt tell me anything else.

Thanks a lot in advance .

p.s. This is somewhat besides the topic but, the windows host I am with right now disabled php's connection to the database. In other words a php script cant use their SQL Server. Is there any way I can have a script run from that windows server, but have the database run from my linux host with mysql? (The linux host told me to simply input the domain name instead of "localhost", which is pretty obvious but that didnt work)
Any suggestions?

By the way, what kind of resources are we talking here anyways? This script looks enormous from what I can see, and it has such a limited purpose. I mean what the heck? Is a journal entry, you put in an entry and you submit it. Why the heck does it contain 1,600 files? lol

If I were to set up a really, trashy, mac on my school's network and host the journal off of there. You think it would crash a lot?

p.s. by crappy i mean really crappy, ~233 MHz maybe even less ~32 MB ram. (Hey come one, its charity :P)
