Blur

I've noticed on several tuts thats when a gaussian blur is used first you take make a blur then half of that then half of that on down to 1....whats the benefit of doing this? (ex: blur 36, then 16, then 8, then 4, then 2, then finally1)

For one thing, 16 isn't half of 36. Shocked

if you do a blur at 1, it wouldnt do much. but, if you did like a 20 it would blur ,but if you do like a 10, 5, 4. it wouldn't be as blurry.

I guess it all depends on the final product of the tutorial. I dont see why you would need to do a gausian blur more than once. =dozingoff

Kryptonite - i know 16 isn't half of 36...its been a long finals week, theres isn't much left in my head....but the reason i brought this point up is because i noticed that robouk uses this technique on his tutorials...i just thought it was curious.

Try it,

You will get a different result if you blur something by 2 then 4, then 8
than if you just blured it by 8

It seems to be a little crispier in places and in some cases works better.
