I already posted this in the Photoshop section even though it's not a Photoshop question. Just because people go there more often than here.

Anyway..
The logo-tutorial on your site..
I don't seem to be able to do the last steps.
The trimming doesn't do anything and I can't even ungroup them at the end. So basically I can't remove the white areas like the tutorial tells me to do.

Btw as I've said before, great tutorial. You should make more. Illustrator and Photoshop tutorials that is. Maybe even 3D

And I managed to make a cool looking gecko myself being a newbie in 'Illustratoring'. Photoshop is more my thing. Or has been so far.

It looks just like his gecko in the tutorial. Heh. Good job man! Is illustrator/freehand actually worth to learn or is it the same as photoshop?

Well it depends on what you plan to make.

For example a logo for a company would be better to make with Illustrator since you can adjust the size freely.

Though I'm not the person who should answer this. Being a Photoshop man.
