PHP Help: PHPBB

Hi, I'm a absolute rookie at PHP.

I've gotten an account at www.members.lycos.co.uk

I've downloaded the PHPBB forum files in ZIP format. I've unzipped all the files into a folder on my computer, now what do I do? Do I upload ALL the files I unzipped onto my Lycos account?

Please help me out, thanks

I did, but I don't understand what they're talking about, because like I said earlier, I'm an absolute Rookie when it comes to PHP

are you also an absolute rookie at following instructions?

Decompress the phpBB 2 archive to a local directory on your system.
- moo

Upload all the files contained in this archive (retaining the directory structure) to a web accessible directory on your server or hosting account.
- moo

Change the permissions on config.php to be writeable by all
- right click -> chmod -> 777

Using your web browser visit the location you placed phpBB 2, e.g. http://www.mydomain.com/phpBB 2, http://www.mydomain.com/forum/ etc.
- moo

Fill out all the requested information and hit Submit
- when you register at lycos they give you the info

Change the permissions on config.php to be writeable only by yourself
- right click -> chmod -> 644

Click the Complete Installation button or revisit the location you entered above.
- moo

I uploaded all the files form the archive, and I did retain the directory structure...
Here's what I got..
http://members.lycos.co.uk/mikebibby10/forum/

I don't understand this
"Change the permissions on config.php to be writeable by all
- right click -> chmod -> 777"
and
"Change the permissions on config.php to be writeable only by yourself
- right click -> chmod -> 644"

connect to the server with your ftp program.
right click on the file (config.php)
hit chmod, permissions, or whatever.
enter the permission number and click ok.

There are easier ways to do it...
JUst use a FTP Client...Upload every file, go to
http://www.lycos.co.uk/yourusername/install.php
Then type in localhost for your host part,
DataBase Name: username_db_uk (I believe)
DataBase Username: Your lycos username
DataBase: Your account pass
Then the others should be an ease. Smile
