i think somethings wrong with my color dodge

as odd as this seems i think somethins wrong with my color dodge feature. int he past i never had a problem with it and i dont know when this problem arised. but it happens to me in both photoshop 6 and 7. the problem is that ill have a white selection or shape in a seperate layer on top of a layer with another colored object, if i select color dodge on the layer nothing happens. the white color doesnt change at all and i know its supposed to. for example if i were to do neofrogs gel button technique (which i have completed successfully in the past) it wouldnt come out the same b./c the color dodge doesnt take effect. i cannot figure out for the life of me whats wrong but its really irritating, any help would be great

the colour dodge layer blend feature was changed from version 5.5 to version 6. It dooes not work the same way.

Workaround : Fill the new layer that you want to have the old colourdodge effect with black from behind using the EDIT--FILL option. Make sure you select from behind as the fill option.

Its a right royal pain and has many PS users upset, but that just the way it is. Adobe claimed it was actually a fix for the colour blend mode! That might be ut still its a pain!

Check out the adobe forums for more info.

after taking a look at something, i noticed 1 major thing. Setting the layer mode to color dodge doesn't work right. as you can see in the attached file. layer dodging yields the same results regardless of the color white u are using, whereas, changing your fill mode to color dodge with the same opacity as the layer dodging, does change with what color white you use. take a look at the included file and see if that helps explain.

after everything and looking at the results, i've come to the conclusion of: "Color Dodge is FUBAR!" lol. Hope this has helped tho.
