How do I fill in Illustrator 10?

Hello Im a NU-B and I was wondering, how do you fill areas in illustrator. I mean I draw a cartoon character and I cant fil 'em in....any help?

not sure if its same w/ Illustrator 10, but see the attachment. INSIDE : select the object, click that...then pick color.
OUTLINE : hmm the outline of the object.

to elaborate on what masboy said...
(not stepping on any toes...Smile )
select the object (if you keep all your objects on seperate layers, you can click the little tiny circle all the way to the right of the layer in the layers pallete)...you will then see the paths...next, you can double click on where it says "inside" in masboy's pic...and select the fill color...and then do the same with the "outside" part on masboy's pic...(if you dont want a stroke around the fill, click the "outside" part once, (so it comes to the front), and click the n/a button (white box with a red line through it) that should fill the object....
