Overclocking AMD Athalon 1.1

Hi,

Does anyone know if i can OC my AMD Athalon 1.1 CPU? If i can how would i do it :confused: thanks.

You need to connect the L1 bridges on the cpu. You can do this numerous ways, but first off, what model is your Athlon? Is it the Thunderbird? I'm guessing it is...

u should have a search on google, there will be lots of sites which will probably be more detailed and have diags to go with them, which is a bit more that some1 postin could probably give u

Im not sure whenever i go to system information it just says its an AMD athlon processor :\

Download the Sandra software and find out. Or go to your System Properties and it should say. If it is a Tbird, unlocking is very easy, but I wouldn't push it far beacause Tbirds are known to overheat all together way too much and you'll problably burn your processor. If you want to push it for now, increase your FSB a bit. But, as I said, I hope you have really good cooling in your box or else you'll fry your chip.

you DONT need to unlock the bridges, thats just to change the multiplier which could help in ocing tremendously but not crucial. just go into bios and step up the FSB...depending on the cooling/ram you can get that thing up a few hundred mghz

And then it'll quickly burn out and/or freeze. OC with just the FSB won't get you that far, especially if you have crappy hardware that can't support higher FSB.

And not with crucial, are you nuts? I've only heard amazing things from crucial ram overclocking!

let me restate this . UNLOCKING is not REQUIRED to OVERCLOCK, but it WILL HELP TREMENDOUSLY. And who mentioned crucial brand ram? wasnt me.

btw oced my 1900 over 200mhz with air cooling and ****ty ram without unlocking it.

I thought you meant crucial ram, not it's crucial to overclocking! Unlocking isn't required but I'd like to see you OC your comp past 200 mhz with simply the FSB. Try doing a 50% OC.

Im going to reiterate once more. I was giving him a simple way to do it. He doesnt have the know how to tweak and perfect nor the hardware to get much out of an oc. He probably has no clue even how to connect the bridges.

My post was not meant to increase me testical size by telling him how to oc the fuck out of his processor with his super leet hardware config and nohow. This guys obviously a noob and theres nothing wrong with that. Let him start with the basics and go from there.
