Regarding Critique on Images

Guys, please give constructive critisism on pieces! I've seen way too many posts that just say, "i dont like it," or, "nice." Yes I know I do this myself, (Sad) but I want you guys to make sure you say something constructive about a piece.. If you don't like it, then say why, I can't stress this more. It doesnt help the artist at all if you just say you don't like it.. If the piece is good, then just say it's nice and congratulate the artist at the least.

And another thing, don't run away from posts that aren't paticulary nice, take some time out to explain all the bad things about the piece. If it's so horrible that theres just way too many things to point out, maybe say to the artist he needs to start over or something.

And another thing, even though I haven't seen this around here, do not kiss people's asses just because you think they're "higher" than you. I don't care if it's Robouk or Spoono showing something off, if you don't like it, then say so. It's not going to help the artist if he/she thinks everyone likes the piece when it actually is pretty bad Shocked

We need to start some habits about this too.. Shocked

-OFF TOPIC-
dont bump your threads if you already have atleast 3 posts.. its just irritating, and some people take it as a turn away..

An important sidenote:

Telling a person that their design needs more work is perfectly ok - that's part of the point of this forum afterall. However, if a member cannot do that in a constructive and non-degrading manner, then they should please not post at all. I have seen WAY too many replies that harshly and unfairly degrade the design attempts of beginning-level designers, including uncalled-for personal insults... this is unacceptable. NO ONE is perfect from the start. I know from experience that positive encouragement and supportive affirmation is vastly more effective at helping beginners take the necessary steps towards advancing their skills. This does not imply that you should lie to the beginner and tell them their work is great if it certainly is not -- what it means is to give them the appropriate feedback in a kind and respectful manner, and encourage them to keep on trying. It will work.

Those members who consistently go against this guideline I am setting, I may consider suspending or banning from TutorialForums. If you disagree... too bad.

Peace!
