Hey guys, a friend of mine introduced me to illustrator a couple of days ago, normally i use photoshop for all my needs but i found out i could convert my pencil sketches into digital images using illlustrator. I inked an old sketch of mine and scanned it into illustrator. After that i traced it. Now my problem is i want some of the outlines of the sketch to have different stroke thicknesses, like the have in those anime cartoons. Where one end is thick and the other end tapers of. Kindda like the image http://www.clockworkdesign.net/links.shtml]here

What you need to do is create a custom brush. Now I do not have Illustrator on the computer I am writing this on, but here are the basic steps:

1. Create a shape which will be your brush. A long elliptical shape a little thicker at one end will probably work well for you.
2. Select that shape, and drag it into the brush menu. You should have a new brush in there.
3. select your lines that you want to use this brush on.
4. click on the new brush. you will probably have to play with the stroke thickness.

Any questions? just ask.
